Lukuman discovered that he was built to teach

Lukuman Mohammed, born in Kumasi, Ghana, has been working as a construction engineer for over 20 years.

Lukuman began his engineering career at college by earning A-levels in physics, biology, and chemistry. However, he quickly realised that a career in construction was more suitable and returned to a local Polytech college to earn more A-levels in construction and engineering.

After working as a shift supervisor at a gold mine, Lukuman returned to education and earned a degree in construction. After earning this degree, Lukuman expanded his construction career by working in Hamburg, Germany, for the Muller organisation, where he built concrete bases and foundations.

After serving in this capacity for two years, Lukuman left for Portugal to advance his career with the company Zetegob. This position opened opportunities to travel around Europe as a construction engineer until 2007. 

Lukuman arrived in the UK in 2008. To continue his passion for education, Lukuman achieved a further degree in business management at the University of Bolton in 2015 and a construction project management degree at the University of Central Lancashire in 2018.

Lukuman returned to the University of Bolton in 2019 to complete a PGCE. With this bank of knowledge, Lukuman became a construction tutor in the prison system and Barnsley College before coming to Hugh Baird College in September 2022.
