“Before teaching I was a cabinet maker, making bespoke kitchens, bathrooms and other furniture.”

“I always liked the idea of teaching and sharing my knowledge with others. I started working at the college as a joinery technician and was able to have a front row seat watching other tutors teach. As a woman in a very male focused industry, it gave me the motivation to promote trades as an option for young female students who may not have even considered it before”.

“As a teacher, one day is never the same as the next, it’s never boring. There is an opportunity to progress and there is lots of support available to do that. The pension is good, and the holidays aren’t bad either”.
